Cookies and Local Storage Policy

Last updated: July 2026. This page should be updated whenever analytics, advertising or additional third-party services are introduced.

1. What this policy covers

Ocean Eyes may use browser cookies and related technologies such as localStorage, IndexedDB, cache storage and service workers. These technologies support security, preferences, offline access and delayed report synchronisation.

2. Strictly necessary technologies

Laravel session / CSRFProtects form submissions and maintains essential server-side state.
IndexedDB report queueStores a photo and report details on the device when the report cannot be sent immediately.
Service-worker cacheKeeps selected application files available after the initial load and supports offline behaviour.
localStorage preferencesRemembers interface choices such as minimap visibility or optional report-display settings.
Consent cookieRemembers whether the user selected essential-only or allowed optional cookies.

3. Map and third-party resources

Map tiles, AI services, embedded social media or external links may be provided by third parties with their own storage and privacy practices. List every production provider here before launch.

4. Analytics and marketing

The current alpha build does not enable analytics or advertising cookies. Selecting “Allow all” stores the preference only; optional tools must not be activated until they are actually configured and documented.

5. Managing stored data

Browser settings can remove cookies and site data. Removing IndexedDB or cache storage can permanently delete an offline report that has not yet synchronised. The interface should warn users when queued reports exist.

6. Test the consent banner

The temporary link below clears only the Ocean Eyes consent-choice cookie. It does not delete queued offline reports, Laravel sessions or other essential browser data.

7. Changes and contact

Update the policy when storage names, purposes or third-party integrations change. Questions can be sent to privacy@oceaneyesmv.com.

Implementation note

Do not block essential offline and security storage behind a marketing-consent prompt. Obtain appropriate consent before enabling optional analytics, advertising or tracking technologies.
