Questions about reporting, privacy and verification.
These answers are sample content and can be updated as partner workflows and final policies are confirmed.
Do I need an account to submit a report?
No. The public reporting flow is designed to accept a photo and location without account creation. A device-session identifier may still be used privately to reduce duplicate or abusive submissions.
What happens when I submit while offline?
The report is saved to the browser's local IndexedDB storage. Ocean Eyes retries the upload when connectivity returns. Keep the app data on the device until synchronisation is confirmed.
Does AI decide whether action is taken?
No. AI helps classify the photograph and estimate severity, but reports that could lead to action require human review.
Why can I not see the location of some species?
Publishing precise locations can attract crowding or exploitation. Sensitive sightings may show only that the species has been observed, without a public coordinate or approximation.
Can Ocean Eyes rescue an animal?
No. Ocean Eyes is a digital reporting platform. Use the Emergency help page for verified rescue and emergency contacts once those contacts have been added.
Can I edit a report after submitting it?
The alpha version does not currently provide anonymous editing. Optional follow-up and tracking workflows can be added later using a report reference or notification token.
How do I know a report was received?
The app shows a success or offline-queued message. Public workflow statuses can later show Received, Under Review and Action Taken.
